ITPEC IP April 2023 Question 73
Topic: Legal AffairsAlso asked in April 2019 and Spring 2021
Which of the following is an appropriate combination of the standards and their applicable fields?
Explanation
LAN, Quality management, Environmental management — IEEE 802.3 is the Ethernet LAN standard, ISO 9001 covers quality management and ISO 14001 environmental management.
- •IEEE 802.3: Ethernet, the wired LAN standard of the IEEE 802 family
- •ISO 9001: requirements for a quality management system (the ISO 9000 series)
- •ISO 14001: requirements for an environmental management system (the ISO 14000 series)
Answer (b)
Why not others:
- •(a) — gets IEEE 802.3 right but swaps ISO 9001 and ISO 14001
- •(c) — makes IEEE 802.3 environmental, ISO 9001 a LAN standard and ISO 14001 quality
- •(d) — gets ISO 9001 right but swaps IEEE 802.3 and ISO 14001
Key rule: IEEE 802 means LAN (802.3 Ethernet, 802.11 wireless LAN); ISO 9000 means quality, ISO 14000 environment and ISO/IEC 27000 information security.
