The extent to which anyone can receive and transmit information on the web regardless of age or physical condition — that is web accessibility.

Web accessibility means elderly people and people with disabilities can use websites as well as anyone else. Typical measures are alternative text for images so that screen readers can read them aloud, enough colour contrast and not relying on colour alone, text that can be enlarged, operation by keyboard alone, and captions for video. The W3C's WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) sets the criteria.
